We ranked all 10 EPA-rated 2016 special purpose vehicles by what they cost to fuel. The Ford Transit Connect leads at about $1,860 a year (25 MPG), while the Mobility Ventures LLC MV-1 is the most expensive to run at $2,906 (16 MPG). The median special purpose vehicle costs $2,315 a year to fuel.

Fuel costs assume 15,000 miles a year at $3.10/gal regular, $3.95/gal premium and 18¢/kWh. Each model is shown in its most efficient configuration.
